Kyiv locals have increased use of lesser-known paths inside Holosiivskyi National Nature Park and Lysa Hora this summer for outdoor workouts that avoid the main tourist routes along the Dnipro.
The shift comes as the city promotes daily movement outdoors amid ongoing recovery efforts after infrastructure strains in prior years, with neighbourhood groups organising group walks that start early to beat heat and crowds.
Holosiivskyi National Nature Park sits in the south of the capital and features marked loops that wind through pine stands and small ponds, while Lysa Hora in the Pechersk district offers steeper climbs with views over the river that few visitors reach because access begins from side streets off Velyka Vasylkivska rather than the central metro exits.
Walkers from the Obolon district often meet at the edge of Syretskyi Park before heading into connected green corridors that link to smaller unmarked tracks, a pattern encouraged by the Kyiv Municipal Park Management since it added basic trail markers in 2024.
These routes stay popular because they require no special equipment beyond sturdy shoes and allow residents to combine exercise with errands on the way home.
The Kyiv Department of Urban Development expanded signage on several secondary trails after 2022, making navigation easier without drawing larger crowds to the sites.
People interested can begin at the southern entrance to Holosiivskyi from Holosiivskyi Prospekt or check local district websites for updated maps before heading out, and city health services continue to advise speaking with a doctor before starting new routines.
