Kyiv's fitness enthusiasts have 17 community events to look forward to between now and the end of August, with the first event, a 5km fun run along the Dnipro River, scheduled for July 17.
These events matter now because they offer a unique opportunity for residents to get active, meet new people and explore the city's hidden gems while supporting local charities. With the summer months in full swing, Kyiv's parks and outdoor spaces are buzzing with activity, making it the perfect time to get involved in group fitness. The city's active wellness culture is thriving, with many residents looking for new and exciting ways to stay healthy and engaged with their community.
In Kyiv, fitness enthusiasts can choose from a range of events, including the annual Podil Charity Walk, which takes place on August 14 and starts at the historic Kontraktova Square. The walk, organised by the Kyiv Charity Foundation, will raise funds for local children's hospitals and feature a 3km route through the charming streets of Podil. Meanwhile, the Kyiv Running Club is hosting a series of fun runs, including a 10km event on July 31 that will take participants through the scenic parks of Pechersk.
According to data from the Kyiv City Council, last year's community fitness events attracted over 10,000 participants and raised nearly 500,000 hryvnia for local charities. This year, event organisers are hoping to exceed those numbers, with many events already selling out. The cost to participate in most events is relatively low, ranging from 50 to 200 hryvnia per person, making it an accessible and affordable way for residents to get involved in group fitness. The Kyiv Marathon, scheduled for September 18, is expected to be one of the biggest events of the year, with over 5,000 participants registered so far.
For those looking to get involved, it's not too late to register for many of the upcoming events. The Kyiv Fitness Festival, taking place on August 21 at the Expocenter of Ukraine, will feature a range of fitness classes, workshops and exhibitions, and tickets are still available for 100 hryvnia per person. Alternatively, residents can join one of the many fitness groups that meet regularly in parks and outdoor spaces across the city, such as the Kyiv Outdoor Fitness Group, which meets every Saturday at 9am in Mariyinsky Park.
